Finding Important Independent Variables through Screening Designs: a Comparison of Methods
نویسندگان
چکیده
Once a simulation model is developed, designed experiments may be employed to efficiently optimize the system. Designed experiments are used on real production systems as well. The first step is to screen for important independent variables. Several screening methods are compared and contrasted in terms of efficiency, effectiveness, and robustness. These screening methods range from the classical factorial designs and twostage group screening to new, more novel designs including sequential bifurcation (SB) and iterated fractional factorial designs (IFFD). Conditions for the use of the methods are provided along with references on how to use them.

Screening by Conference Designs
Screening experiments are addressed to the identiication of the relevant variables within some process or experimental outcome potentially depending on a large number of variables. In this paper we introduce a new class of experimental designs called edge designs. These designs are very useful for screening experiments since they allow a model-independent estimate of the set of relevant variabl...
متن کاملLipid profile in relation to dietary calorie intake and anthropometric measurement of healthy women taking part in Shiraz diabetes screening test
Background and aims: It is well known that dyslipidemia is related to cardiovascular disease, dietary aspect and obesity play an important role in CVD risk factor. In the present study, we investigated the relationship between calorie intake, anthropometrical parameters and serum lipids in apparently healthy women. Methods: The subject were 90 healthy wom...
متن کاملA Comparison of Case-Control and Case-Only Designs to Investigate Gene-Environment Interactions Using Breast Cancer Data
Background: The traditional methods of studying the gene-environment interactions need a control group. However, the selection of an appropriate control group has been associated with problems. Therefore, new methods, such as case-only design, have been created to study such interactions. The objective of this study was to compare the case-only and case-control designs using data from patients ...
